I just thought I would share this image of the Larches in Chopwell Wood. Often in the UK when people think of conifers they think of evergreen trees, but the larches needles turn gold and they shed them, as has now happened days after this picture was taken in the high winds here.While they look attractive they don’t support much in the way of wildlife, not in this wood anyway, as they are an introduction to this habitat.
